Manage members of your organization

Manage your organization’s members centrally from the Admin Dashboard:

  • Manage access to your organization's individual teams.
  • Deactivate members and remove access to teams.
  • Change members' permission roles at the org-level.
  • View and edit members’ profiles.
  • Send SSO rebinding emails. 


Change a member’s role on the organization

Organization Owners can give other members the permission to help manage teams connected to the organization. To change a member’s role at the organization level:

  1. Sign in to your Slack Enterprise Grid, then click Manage organization.
  2. Visit the  Organization page of the Admin Dashboard.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Search for a member, then click their name to view their profile.
  5. Click the  gear icon, then select Make Org Owner or Make an Org Admin.

Deactivate a member’s account

Deactivating a member’s account at the organization level will immediately end all active sessions on all teams the member has access to.

There are two options to choose from when deactivating a member:

Remove access to the entire organization

  1. Sign in to your Slack Enterprise Grid, then click Manage organization.
  2. Visit the  Organization page of the Admin Dashboard.
  3. Click Members, then search for the member you’d like to deactivate.
  4. To view their profile, click their name.
  5. Click the  gear icon, then select Disable.   

Remove access to only some teams

  1. Sign in to your Slack Enterprise Grid, then click Manage organization.
  2. Visit the  Organization page of the Admin Dashboard.
  3. Click Members, then search for the member you’d like to update.
  4. Hover over the member’s name, then click the  gear icon.
  5. Select Manage Teams.

 

Send an SSO rebind email

From the Admin Dashboard you can send SSO rebinding emails to individual members. They'll need to re-authenticate with your identity provider before they can access your organization again.

  1. Sign in to your Slack Enterprise Grid, then click Manage organization.
  2. Visit the  Organization page of the Admin Dashboard.
  3. Click Members, then search for the member you’d like to send an SSO rebinding email to.
  4. Click on the member's name to open their profile.
  5. Click the  gear icon, then select Send SSO Rebind Email.

What happens next

The member will receive an email from Slack, prompting them to connect their SSO account to your Slack Enterprise Grid. They’ll just need to click Authenticate your account button to begin the binding process.

Who can use this feature?
  • Organization Owners and Admins can access this feature.
  • Available on Slack for Enterprise.
