Whether you're in a meeting, working from home, or heading on a vacation to Fiji, you can set a status in Slack and let your team know what you're up to. Workspace Admins can even set default status suggestions for your workspace.
Tip: Status suggestions make it easier for members to quickly set their status. ✨
Set default statuses for your members
All members have five default options to choose from when setting their status in Slack. If you're an Admin, here's how to customize status suggestions for your workspace:
From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
Click Customize Slack.
Customize the status options, and don’t forget to choose a corresponding emoji!
Once you’ve set custom default statuses, members can choose from your suggested options or enter their own custom status.
Note: Any statuses that members currently have set won't be changed until they update or clear them.
Tips for creating status suggestions
🎯 Choose emojis wisely: For each default status you create, select an emoji that clearly illustrates it.
💇 Keep ‘em short: Make default statuses short enough that members can use the suggestions and add to them.
🤗 Be inclusive: Avoid acronyms, terms, and phrases not everyone on your workspace is familiar with.
