Manage session duration

For added security, you can limit the length of time (session duration) a member is signed in to Slack on desktop. Limiting session duration will require members to sign back in periodically. ⏳

By default, members will always remain signed in to Slack, but you can choose to sign members out when they close the Slack app or after a specific period of time (minimum 12 hours).

Here's how:

Standard and Plus plans

Enterprise Grid plan

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Administration, then Settings from the menu.
  3. Click Authentication.
  4. Click Expand next to Session Duration.
  5. Select how much time should elapse before requiring members to sign in.
  6. Click Save.
  1. From your desktop, sign in to your Slack Enterprise Grid, then click Manage Organization.
  2. Under  Security page, click the Security tab.
  3. Under Session Duration, select how much time should elapse before requiring members to re-authenticate.
  4. Click Save Changes.

Note: Session duration applies to desktop only. So even with session duration turned on, members won't be signed out of Slack on their mobile devices.
