Slack is experiencing some connectivity issues — please stand by. Check Status
Archiving a channel removes it from the list of active conversations in your Slack workspace. The channel isn’t open for new activity, but the history is retained for easy browsing and searching.
When a channel is archived, here's what you can expect:
The channel name will have the archive icon next to it.
All members can still browse the conversation history in Slack.
Messages from the archived channel will still appear in search results.
Note: You can delete public channels (except for the #general channel), if you'd prefer.

Click the gear icon to open the Channel Settings menu.
Select Additional options.
Click Archive this channel.
Tap the channel name in the header to view the channel details menu.
Tap Archive.
Tap the channel name in the header to view the channel details menu.
Tap Archive under the Advanced section.
On the next screen, tap Archive to confirm.
Sorry, it's not currently possible to archive a channel on Windows Phone. Please stay tuned for updates!
Note: The #general channel cannot be archived.
Unarchive a channel
If you change your mind, you can unarchive a channel at any time. Here's how from your desktop:
Click the Channels header at the top of your list of channels.
Click Show: All channels and select Archived channels from the dropdown menu.
Choose a channel from the list to open the channel history.
Click the gear icon and select un-archive #channelname.
Who can use this feature?
By default, allmembers except for Guests can use this feature.
