Default channels are channels that people join automatically when they become a member of your workspace.
For workspaces that allow members to join on their own with their work email address or through single sign-on, default channels — like #getting-started, #slack-tips, #company-culture, or #help-benefits for example — are especially useful.
Select default channels
Click your workspace name in the top left to open the menu.
Click expand under the Default Channels section.
Start typing to specify channels for new members to join automatically by default.
