Edit your profile

Completing your Slack profile helps your team members learn more about you. Here's how to add details about yourself, upload a photo, and set your time zone.


Fill out your profile information

You can edit your profile and add new details right within Slack:

  1. Click your team name in the top-left to open the Team Menu.

  2. Select Profile & account. This will open your profile in the Directory sidebar.
  3. Click Edit Profile.
  4. Make your edits and click Save Changes when you’re done!
  1. Swipe left to open the right sidebar.
  2. Tap Edit Profile
  3. Make your edits to your profile and tap the   left arrow button at top left to finish up!
  1. Tap the overflow menu at top right.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Edit profile.
  4. Make your edits, then tap the check mark at top right to save them.
  5. Tap the left arrow button at top left to finish.
  1. Launch a mobile browser and go to: my.slack.com/account/profile. Sign in with your account details if you need to.
  2. Tap Edit Profile.
  3. Make the changes you'd like, then scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Save Changes to finish.

Note: By default, everyone can add their name, job description or title, phone number, and time zone to their profile. Paid teams can also add custom fields to their team’s profiles.


Upload a profile photo

You can also upload or change your Slack profile photo from right within Slack. Here's how:

  1. Click your team name to open the Team Menu.
  2. Select Profile & account. This will open the Directory sidebar.
  3. Click Edit Profile.
  4. Under Profile photo, click the image to Change your profile photo, then select Upload an image, and choose an image to upload.

  5. Adjust the crop for your photo, then click Save profile picture.
  6. Click Save Changes to finish up!
  1. Swipe left to open the right sidebar.
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Edit Profile
  4. Give the profile picture box a tap at top left.
  5. Choose whether to upload a photo from your Photo Library or to take a photo instead.
  6. Crop the photo if you need to.
  7. Tap the  left arrow at top left to wrap things up.
  1. Tap the overflow menu at top right.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Edit profile.
  4. Tap the profile picture box.
  5. Choose whether to take a photo or upload one from the Gallery.
  6. Wait a moment for your profile to update.
  7. Tap the left arrow button at top left to finish!
  1. Launch a mobile browser and go to: my.slack.com/account/profile. Sign in with your account details if you need to.
  2. Tap Edit Profile.
  3. Select the profile photo box, then tap Upload an image.
  4. Choose an image from your device or take a photo.
  5. Crop the image as you'd like, then tap Save profile picture.
  6. Tap Save Changes to wrap things up!


That's it! You have a shiny new profile photo.

Say cheese! Your profile picture should be a minimum of 512x512 pixels, but no larger than 1024x1024 pixels.
