Reset all passwords for your workspace

Workspace-wide password reset

For security purposes, Workspace Owners can instantly reset passwords for all members of their workspace.

  1. Visit the Admin Settings page at my.slack.com/admin/settings.
  2. Select the Authentication tab.
  3. Click expand next to Forced Password Reset.
  4. In the dropdown, decide if you would also like to force an immediate disconnect for all members (see details below).

  5. Click Reset Passwords for All Members.
  6. When asked to confirm, select I’m Sure.

All members will then receive an email with instructions on how to select a new password and log back in to Slack.

Note: Does your workspace have SSO enabled? Learn more about Reset all single sign-on sessions.

Forced disconnect

In addition to resetting all member passwords, you can choose to end all active sessions whether they are logged in on mobile, their desktop app or a web browser.

When this option is selected, all members who are currently logged in to Slack will receive a Slackbot message about the password reset, and will be disconnected one minute later.

If you choose not to force a disconnect, the password for all members will still be reset and members will need to create a new one before their next login.

Who can use this feature?
  • Only Workspace Owners can access this feature.
  • Available to workspaces on free and paid plans.
