Customize your Slack theme
You can choose a new, personalized sidebar theme for any Slack team you join! If you're on multiple teams, try selecting a different theme for each one to help you quickly tell them apart.
Choose a new theme
Open the Slack team you’d like to customize.
Click your team name to open the Team Menu .
Choose Preferences .
Select the Sidebar Theme tab.
Choose a sidebar theme. To select custom colors, click Customize your theme and share it with others .
Your new theme will appear wherever you open this team: desktop, web, or mobile!
Note: The theme you choose will only be seen by you and is not visible to other members of your team. Read on to learn about sharing your new theme!
Tip: Under Preferences > Sidebar Theme > Accessible Themes, you'll find a couple of options that some people with color-blindness have found helpful.
Select custom colors
To select custom colors for your Slack theme, you can type in any 6-digit HTML color value, or click a color swatch to choose from the color picker.
Share a custom Slack theme
To share your custom Slack theme, visit the
Sidebar Theme tab in your Preferences. Under Custom Theme, select the list of hex values found at the bottom of the page and copy them to your clipboard.
Next, paste your theme into any Slack channel or DM. From desktop, team members can just click the
Switch button to start using your theme.
Tip: When you paste any 6-digit color value into Slack, we’ll display a small swatch for each color. 🎨✨
