Channel suggestions

When you join a new channel, Slackbot will suggest other channels based on your activity. You can't disable these messages, but they're only visible to you. Here's an example for a member who joined the #all-hands-and-events channel:
Channel_recommendations

Members of workspaces on paid plans can choose to receive channel recommendations via Slackbot DMs. If you prefer not to receive these, tap the Disable Suggestions button in the message. Or, you can adjust your preferences:

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Preferences from the menu.
  3. Uncheck the box to Send me occasional channel suggestions via Slackbot.

Shortcuts and commands

  • Use the Quick Switcher to search for channels by name: type K on Mac or Ctrl K on PC.
  • If you know the name of a channel you'd like to join, use the /join command. This will skip the channel preview and add you to the channel right away.
