Caution: Slack version 2018.614.0.0 (released 6/14/18) will be the latest and final app update for Windows Phone. Though the app will remain available, we will no longer be updating the Slack app for Windows Phone.

Download and install Slack

  1. Find Slack in the Windows Store using your Windows Phone.
  2. Tap the install button.
  3. To launch Slack, go to All apps and search for Slack (Beta).

Note: If you’re having trouble downloading or running Slack for Windows Phone, read about the technical requirements for Slack apps for computers, phones & tablets.

The basics

Let’s go over setting up Slack on your Windows Phone. Before you can sign in, you’ll need to join a Slack workspace or create your own.

Sign in to a Slack workspace

  1. On your mobile device, open the Slack app.
  2. Enter your Slack URL, then click Continue.
  3. Tap Type password, then enter your password and tap Next.

Or, tap Send magic link and check your email! When the email arrives, click the Sign in to Slack button. The link expires in 24 hours and can only be used to sign in once. 🔗 ✨ Click Launch Slack to open your mobile app.

Tip: To sign in to another workspace, Tap the   Menu, then tap the  plus icon in the bottom left. Once signed in, simply tap the   Menu again, then select a workspace icon in the left-hand menu.

Sign out of a Slack workspace

  1. Tap the    More actions icon at the top right.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sign out of [workspace name].

Note: Signing out of a workspace removes it from the Slack app. Once you have signed out of all your workspaces, you will be signed out of Slack on your Windows Phone.

Left Sidebar: workspaces, channels, and DMs

Swipe right to open the left sidebar, where you can access your workspaces, your channel list, and your recent direct message conversations.

More actions: status and settings

Tap the  More actions icon to open the right sidebar, where you can:

📺 Switch channels in an instant

Jump to the channel list by tapping the Channel Menu at top left. Here, you can browse all the channels on your workspace. Simply tap a #channel to open it.

📣 Refine your push notification settings

Choose which push notifications you’d like to receive by tapping the   More actions icon at top right. Select Settings, then open the drop-down menu below Push Notifications to review the options.

Using Slack for Windows Phone

Now that you’re signed in and know your way around, let’s get to work! Throughout the Help Center, look for instructions to using Slack features on your Windows Phone. Here are some tasks to get you started.

Note: As a beta app, not all Slack features are available for Windows Phone. You are not able to search Slack, add posts, snippets, and custom emojis, or set DnD hours in Slack for Windows Phone.

Having trouble? Try restarting the app:

  • Tap the back button in Slack to close the app.
  • Force quit by long-pressing the back button, then tapping the   close icon by the Slack preview.
