Change a member's role

Workspace Owners and Admins can manage the roles and permissions of other members on their team.

 

Who can manage roles

  • Workspace Primary Owners can promote or demote Workspace Owners and Admins. There can only be one Primary Workspace Owner: this means a Primary Owner must transfer ownership of a workspace to change who is in this role.
  • Workspace Owners can promote members to Workspace Owner or Admin. They can demote a Workspace Admin, but cannot demote another Workspace Owner.
  • Workspace Admins can promote other members to Workspace Admin, but cannot demote Workspace Owners or Admins.

 

Promote an Owner or Admin

Warning: Use care when promoting other members. Depending on your role, you may not be able to demote them afterwards.

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Administration, then Manage members.
  3. Click the  three dots icon to the right of the member you'd like to promote.
  4. Select Change to Owner or Change to Admin.

If you need to demote a Workspace Owner or Admin, follow the steps above and click Change to Admin, then Change to Full member

 

Change a member's role to Guest

Keep in mind: Guest accounts are only available to paid workspaces. See Multi-Channel and Single-Channel Guests for more.

Any member's role can be changed to a Multi-Channel or Single-Channel Guest:

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Administration, then Manage members.
  3. Click the  three dots icon to the right of the member you'd like to change to a Guest.
  4. Click Change to Guest.
  5. Select either Multi-Channel Guest or Single-Channel Guest.
  6. For Single-Channel Guests, select the channel they should belong to, then click Save. For Multi-Channel Guests, choose the channels they can access, then click Save.

Note: If the account is currently a Workspace Owner or Admin, you’ll need to change it to a Full Member before you'll see an option to convert their account to a Guest.

 

Change a Guest's role

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Administration, then Manage members.
  3. Click the  three dots icon to the right of the member you'd like to change.

From here, you have a few options:

  • Change the Guest to a Full Member by clicking the Change to Full Member button
  • Change a Single-Channel Guest to a Multi-Channel Guest by clicking the Change to Multi-Channel Guest button
  • Change a Multi-Channel Guest to a Single-Channel Guest by clicking the Change to a Single-Channel Guest button

Note: You can't directly promote a Guest to an Owner or Admin. You'll need to make them a Full Member first.
