U.S. sales tax
For workspaces in the U.S., sales tax is based on your state and local tax rates, and will be included as a line item on your billing statement or invoice.
Currently, sales tax is applicable in the following jurisdictions:
District of Columbia
Your Company AddressZIP code is used to determine the correct tax rate. To change your billing information, Workspace Owners can update their billing details from the Billing page in Slack.
If your company is tax exempt, please send your current and signed sales tax exempt certificate to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include your workspace’s Slack URL (e.g. your-url.slack.com), and Slack’s full name and address on the tax exempt certificate:
Slack Technologies, Inc. 500 Howard Street San Francisco, CA 94105 USA
Value-Added Tax / Good and Services Tax
Slack will charge Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Good and Services Tax (GST) on electronic services. Whether you're charged VAT on your purchases depends on your billing address and how you use Slack:
Your billing address is in Ireland
Irish VAT will be added to your purchase if the billing address stored in your Slack workspace is in Ireland, whether you use Slack for business or non-business purposes. VAT will be shown as a separate line item on your invoice.
If you have a VAT exemption status in Ireland, please send a copy of your VAT56B Authorization Certificate to email@example.com. Be sure to note your workspace’s Slack URL (e.g. your-url.slack.com). We will remove VAT from your purchase.
Your billing address is within the EU, Australia, Russia, or Norway
If your billing address is in the EU (but outside of Ireland), Australia, Russia, or Norway, please update your workspace’s billing information to include your VAT ID/Business Number and indicate your business status:
Business — You use your Slack workspace for business purposes, and expect to receive revenue (e.g. corporations, affiliates, sole traders, self-employed merchants, partnerships, etc.). If you select “Business”, VAT/GST won't be applied. You will be responsible for self-assessing your own VAT/GST and paying VAT/GST on purchases at the applicable rate of the country you are doing business in.
Non-Business — Your Slack workspace is not used for business purposes. If you select “Non-Business”, standard VAT/GST may be automatically applied based on your billing address. We reserve the right to change your status to “Business” if we learn your workspace is being used for business purposes.
Note: If your billing address is outside of the EU, Australia, Russia, or Norway, you won't be charged VAT.
