Sales tax

Depending on your location, you might be charged sales tax when paying for Slack.

US sales tax

For workspaces in the US, sales tax is based on your state and local tax rates, and will be included as a line item on your billing statement.

States where tax is applicable:

  • New York
  • Texas
  • District of Columbia

Your Company Address zip code is used to determine the correct tax rate. To change your billing information, Workspace Owners can update their billing details from the Billing page in Slack.

If you have questions about your billing statement, please get in touch with us — we’d be happy to help!

Keep in mind: For now, workspaces outside of the US will not be charged sales tax. If this changes, Workspace Owners will be given notice in advance.

Value Added Tax (VAT): We may apply VAT to upgraded workspaces in the European Union in the future. Until then, visit the Settings page to store your VAT ID in Slack.

Tax exempt

If your company is tax exempt, please send your current and signed sales tax exemption certificate to tax@slack.com. Be sure to include your workspace's Slack URL (e.g. your-url.slack.com), and Slack's full name and address:

Slack Technologies, Inc.
155 5th Street
San Francisco, CA 94103
