Sort your unread channels

Decide how to prioritize your unreads by first selecting how they’re sorted. You can choose from alphabetically, by newest activity, and by oldest activity.

Teams on paid plans also have an option to sort scientifically, a view that’s tailored for how you use Slack.

Mark messages as read

As you finish browsing the unread messages in each channel, just click the Mark as Read button to clear it.

To quickly mark all the messages in this view as read, scroll to the bottom and click Mark All Messages Read.

Tip: If you marked a channel as read too quickly, you can go back. Click Undo to keep those messages in your all unreads view.

Refresh for new messages

If new messages become available while you are in the all unread view, the  message refresh icon will appear in the header — click it to reveal a fresh batch of unread messages.

Message actions

New messages cannot be posted from the all unreads view, but you can star, share, add a reactionpin, or set a message reminder.

Jump to a channel

To post a message in a channel, or jump to the conversation, click the time stamp on any message to visit that channel.

Skip noisy channels

Busy channel you don't need to check often? Just click the gray bar containing the channel name to collapse it. The channel will still appear in your all unreads view, but remain collapsed. Click the gray bar again to open it.
