How to use the Quick Switcher
As your team grows, you’ll need a quick and easy way to get to the right place. With just a few keystrokes, our Quick Switcher lets you jump between conversations, channels, and even teams.
Opening the Quick Switcher
You can pull up the Quick Switcher with these keyboard shortcuts:
⌘ T (desktop app only)
Tips: If you're using Slack for iOS or Android, you can swipe from left to right to open the channel list in the left sidebar, and use the Jump to conversation... field up top. Simple as that!
Finding a channel
To find a channel, start typing its name. If you’d like your results to show public channels only, type
# before you begin entering the channel name.
To help you move around more quickly, channels and DMs you frequent the most, including the ones you've starred, are boosted to the top of your search results. Note:
Opening direct and group messages
Start typing a teammate’s name to open a direct message or a group message. You can limit your results to direct messages only by typing
@ before entering any names.
You can use the Quick Switcher to jump to any team you’re signed in to. Yes, — you guessed it! — start typing the team name to find and select a different team.
Navigating the Quick Switcher
Up ↑ and Down ↓ arrow keys, the Tab key, or scroll through the list. Once you’ve highlighted a channel, direct message group DM, or team, hit Enter to jump directly there.
