Turn off animated images and emoji

Emoji reactions and GIFs animate automatically in Slack. If you’d prefer to turn off animations, you can change your personal preference. Here's how:

  1. Click your workspace name in the top left to open the menu. Team_Menu.png
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click Accessibility.
  4. Under Animation, uncheck the box next to Allow animated images and emoji.
  1. Swipe right to left to open the right sidebar.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Accessibility.
  4. Tap the toggle next to Allow Animated Images.
  1. Tap the Overflow menu at top right.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap on Advanced. Scroll to the bottom of the page, then toggle off Allow animated images and emoji.
  1. Tap the    More actions icon at top right.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Experimental, tap the toggle next to Animate gif images.

Tip: On desktop, you can collapse any image by clicking the  down arrow next to the image title, or type the /collapse slash command to collapse all media in a channel.
