Message actions for apps

Apps connect your tools to Slack so your team can work together, faster. Some apps come with built-in shortcuts called actions. These actions help you move work from Slack to a connected app. From any message in Slack, you can create a task, comment, or follow up on existing work.

Benefits

  • Find an app's available actions attached to any Slack message.
  • Quickly take action on a message without leaving Slack.
  • Keep ideas, tasks, and other information from being forgotten.

Tip: See some examples of how to use apps with actions

Create a task, comment, or follow up from a message

  1. Hover over any message in Slack that needs follow up.
  2. Select the  More actions icon.
  3. Choose an action from the menu. The apps you use most frequently appear first. To see others, select More message actions.

An automatic message in channel lets your teammates know you’ve flagged something for follow-up.

Note: Once you take an action, you must have the right permissions within the connected app to undo it.
