Slack is experiencing some connectivity issues — please stand by. Check
After inviting someone to Slack, you can loop them in to conversations happening in your workspace — before they’ve accepted their invitation. When you @mention an invited member or send them a direct message, they’ll receive an email notification. And soon, they’ll be able to reply by email as well.
When an invited member joins your workspace, they’ll see their channels and messages so they can continue collaborating in Slack.
This functionality is rolling out gradually. It will be available for workspaces on the Free and Standard plans first, then Plus and Enterprise Grid. If you’re not seeing it yet, please be patient!
What invited members need to know
Welcome! A Slack workspace is a collaboration hub where you and your team can work together to get things done. Work in Slack happens in channels — places for a team to share messages, tools, and files.
When you’re invited to Slack, other members of the workspace can include you in conversations in two ways: mentioning you in a channel, or sending you a direct message. You'll continue to receive email notifications until you activate your Slack account.
Unsubscribe from notifications
Open a Slack email notification.
Click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
If you’d like, click Yes, Set Status from the Unsubscribe page to let workspace members know you’re not receiving email notifications.
Invited members receive email notifications when they’re mentioned in a channel or receive a DM, but do not yet have Slack accounts. Their accounts are created when they accept an invitation.
Tip: If you’re on a paid plan, you will not be billed for invited members until they accept their invitation and become active in Slack.
Manage pending invitations
Workspace Owners and Admins on the Free, Standard, and Plus plans can revoke and re-send invited members’ invitations from the Manage members page.
Org Owners and Admins on Enterprise Grid can manage invitations from the Admin Dashboard.
Restrict notifications for specific domains
If you’re an Owner of a Plus workspace or an Org Owner on Enterprise Grid, you can choose to hide message content in notifications for recipients with email addresses on specific domains. Please note that SSO needs to be enabled to manage this preference.
